Confidence, Caution and Home Prices
- Consumer confidence in the U.S. increased in March to an indexed 96.2. A post great recession high of 103.8 was reached close to a year ago. The all time high ws 144.7 in 2000. USA Today
- In a speech to the Economic Club of New York Janet Yellen, chair of the Federal Reserve, stated she “consider(s) it appropriate for the committee to proceed cautiously in adjusting policy.” Bloomberg
- The S&P Case-Shiller Home Price indexes for San Francisco, Seattle and Portland all recently surpassed the 2005-2007 high for each city. They join Dallas and Denver in doing so. Nationally the S&P Case-Shiller Home Price 20-City Composite is 10.4% below its April 2006 record high.
